Message so recently ive purchased a timing light to compliment the rest of my fathers tools. For giggles i checked the timing with a light clapping the loop on the PTU.

I've found that my timing mark is about 3 whole inches below the entire timing area on the front of the harmonic balancer. How this happened, i have no idea as i was extremely careful not to move/jump the timing belt any teeth but alas something could have happened i guess somewhere along the lines.

How do i fix this mechanically? Should i just replace the belt anyways (its in excellent condition and feels/looks great)

When adjusting the CAS from 0/15/30 degrees at position 0 all twisted COUNTER clockwise the timing mark goes TO THE LEFT away from the measuring point on the motor.

When twisted to the RIGHT 30 degree's the mark moves about 1/8th of an inch to the 30 mark on the motor. Twisting the CAS does not bring the timing mark anywhere near the measurement.

how do i fix this? Mechanically line everything up? I'm pretty new to working on my Z since, ive read horror stories about bringing it to dealers.

I just tested the fuel pressure and its @ 44psi give or take a few when i press down on it, the pressure goes up as expected.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and im willing to help anyone in south boston (area) that may need to borrow a consult and or needs an extra hand working on their z.
